On October 2nd, the U.S. Trade Representative released a list of E.U. products that will be subject to additional duty rates of 10% or 25%. These additional tariffs will begin effective October 18, 2019. This is a result of investigations that confirmed that the European Union has been providing illegal subsidies to Airbus which has seriously injured the U.S. Aerospace industry.
The tariffs will be applied to a range of imports from the EU Member States, with the bulk of the tariffs being applied to imports from France, Germany, Spain, and the United Kingdom. At this time, the tariff increases will be limited to 10 percent on large civil aircraft and 25 percent on agricultural and other products.
